VOLLI Ambassador Marcel Zuzarte is a rising star on the Pickleball professional circuit. Ranked 63rd in the world rankings after playing just three tournaments in 2022 in the Senior Pro and Champions brackets, Marcel’s goal for 2023 is to be ranked in the Top 10 World Pickleball Rankings by the end of the year. Currently after 4 months his ranking is 19 & his personal rating is 5.0 in singles and 4.0 in doubles.

Born in Kenya to Portuguese-Indian parents, Marcel represented Kenya in his teens as a junior tennis player. He had ambitions to play professionally until a bicycle accident injured his shoulder. A lifelong racquet sports enthusiast who has played tennis, ping-pong, squash  and badminton for club & school, when Marcel took up pickleball at a friend’s urging, he was immediately hooked.

Marcel is also hooked on the VOLLI pickleball experience. “I am very enthusiastic about how VOLLI combines general family entertainment with pickleball and other sports and games,” Marcel said. “Pickleball is a very diverse sport. Every age group can play it. I think VOLLI is going to be a tremendous success.”

When Marcel is not competing, you’ll likely find him at VOLLI locations nationwide where he’ll be offering clinics and lessons.

Marcel lives in Birch Bay, Washington. He is the father of three, who all think it’s pretty cool that their dad is a professional athlete.
